Scope of work

Between the design and the shop floor

A design that looks right is not yet a job that cuts right. We take it the rest of the way, so the parts that come off your saw or your router go together on site.

CNC engineering for Mozaik jobs

We rebuild the designer's job for production. Walls go to survey dimensions, fillers and scribes go where the room needs them, appliances are checked against their openings, and machining matches your hardware.

Shop drawings and submittals

Plans, elevations, sections and details to AWI Custom Grade, with substrate, finish, countertop and hardware called out on every sheet. Revisions are tracked from V1 to approval.

Cut lists for hand-built shops

Not every shop runs a CNC. We deliver cut lists grouped by material and sorted by size, with identical parts consolidated and every piece traced to its cabinet number.

Parametric cabinet libraries

Mozaik libraries built to your construction standard, so every new job starts right: joinery, line boring, drawer systems and hardware already set and tested on real cuts.

Pre-CNC verification protocol

Three layers of review. Eight checks. One signature.

We are not a freelancer working alone. We are a US millwork engineering and CNC programming studio, and every room moves through the same industrial protocol before a single sheet is cut.

  1. Layer 1

    Production drafting team

Rooms modeled, AWI shop drawings drafted in AutoCAD, and cabinet structures built in Mozaik and SketchUp.

  2. Layer 2

    AI-assisted parametric and checklist audit

Parameters, true versus nominal sheet thickness, grain match, Room Settings hardware (Blum, Salice, Sugatsune, Häfele, Gola) and clearances in special cabinets: sink bases, stretchers and bearers.

  3. Layer 3

    Senior CNC engineer sign-off

Per-part operation simulation, line boring, dowels and Z-depth spoilboard safety audited before G-code is released for Homag, MultiCam or Laguna machines.

Phase 1

Room settings and survey alignment

Field dimensions, imperial or metric units, hardware and material templates.

File pre-flight

Libraries, joinery settings and tool parameters confirmed. Nothing reverted to defaults on import.

Site and architecture

Walls and angles match the survey. Out-of-plumb and out-of-square conditions get scribes. Plumbing, electrical and HVAC located.

Phase 2

Cabinet geometry and joinery

Backs and grooves, blind dados and dowels, finished ends.

Cabinets and joinery

Width, height and depth to field. Reveals, stiles and rails, toe kicks, dados and rabbets checked cabinet by cabinet.

Sinks and appliances

Sink base stretchers turned to clear plumbing. Appliances checked against manufacturer specs. Hood ducting clear.

Phase 3

Optimizer and true material calibration

The real batch thickness, 19 mm against 18.6 mm, so joints are neither open nor blown out.

True thickness and hardware

Sheet thickness measured with calipers and set in the library. Hinges, slides and pulls confirmed for the room.

Optimizer and grain

Sheet sizes and trim margins set. Grain direction locked, grain match on doors and drawer fronts. Waste reviewed.

Phase 4

G-code and spoilboard safety

Z-heights, tooling, and a perfect match between submittals, cut lists and code.

Drawings, cut list and code match

Line boring aligned to hardware. Part counts and edgebanding verified. The PDF, the cut list and the CNC file describe the same parts.

Toolpaths and final stop-check

Z-depths and toolpaths safe for the spoilboard. Any unclear term or client note resolved before files are released.

Every Friday

Weekly allocation tracker

You receive a clear log of the cabinets and hours used from your monthly cap of 80 or 150, so there are no billing surprises.

Scope

Revisions vs. redesigns

Minor dimension or hardware adjustments are included. A full architectural redesign requested after 3D modeling has begun counts toward your monthly allocation.

Monthly reset, no rollover

We reserve dedicated engineering staff and software licenses for your shop every week, so unused monthly capacity resets on the 1st of each month.

About Axis

Built on a firm foundation

Axis Millwork Design LLC is a millwork engineering and CNC programming studio based in Dawsonville, Georgia, working for cabinet shops, millwork contractors and designers across the United States.

Alex Lizcano, founder of Axis Millwork Design
Alex LizcanoFounder & Lead Millwork Engineer

Why we built Axis Millwork Design

After nearly half a decade engineering for high-volume millwork firms here in Georgia, I kept seeing the same critical failure point: shops applying Lean Manufacturing on the floor, but losing thousands of dollars in the office due to disconnected CAD drafting and unverified G-code.

I realized the industry didn’t need more “line drawers.” It needed technical architects who understood exactly how a hinge, a slide, or a 19 mm board behaves on a Homag or MultiCam router.

That’s why I founded Axis Millwork Design. We don’t just draw pretty boxes; we run your projects through our AI filters to verify every part and engineer certainty. From the exact grain match to the final toolpath, we protect your shop floor from costly rework.

— Alex Lizcano

Our mission

To eliminate the biggest bottleneck in the custom millwork industry: the gap between architectural intent and the shop floor. We believe that a shop’s profitability is won or lost in the engineering phase. Our mission is to provide manufacturers with parametric, verified engineering, using AI-driven audits to verify every cutting file before it reaches the shop floor. This keeps CNC machines running, cuts material waste to a minimum, and lets shop owners scale production without the burden of expensive in-house overhead.

Our vision

To set a new standard for B2B millwork engineering across North America. We envision an industry where trial and error at the CNC router is a thing of the past, and where every custom cabinet shop, regardless of size, has on-demand access to an elite, AI-assisted engineering department that delivers a precise fit and AWI compliance on the very first cut.
